Change in Travel Restrictions- More Ecuadorean Youth Travels to Cuba to Learn Medicine
As travel restrictions from US to Cuba has changed, more and more people travelling to Cuba has increased.
Twenty-nine Ecuadorean youths who will study medicine at the Havana-based Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) were seen off on Wednesday during a ceremony in Quito, the capital of Ecuador. Ecuadorean Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino expressed his gratitude to Cuba for its cooperation in the training of doctors in spite of the almost-50-year-old economic blockade imposed by the United States against the Caribbean nation.
Patino pointed out that the United States aims at crushing the spirit of Cubans, who —despite all limitations have a great heart and offer their facilities, knowledge, and resources to save lives. Cuba’s cooperation in this area will help Ecuador improve its health system.
